Laing O'Rourke

Laing O'Rourke successfully completed the shell and core works to the 240,000ft² department store for the John Lewis Partnership on 30th March 2007. Teams of shopfitters will work for the next twelve months within the impressive building.
Laing O'Rourke also handed over the 185,000ft² department store for Debenhams on 21st May 2007 so the shopfitting is now underway. These successful handovers highlight the achievement of significant landmarks towards the completion of Liverpool One in 2008.
Peter Ryan, Project Director for Laing O'Rourke, comments:
“I’m proud that our team has achieved the key milestones so far. As well as delivery of the John Lewis and Debenhams department stores, it’s worth remembering that in November 2006 we handed over the first multi-storey car park, a travel centre for Merseytravel and the Transport Interchange. The new BBC Radio Merseyside on Hanover Street was handed over at the end of February 2006 and the station is now transmitting from its new home and The Quakers Friends Meeting House on School Lane is in full use. In February 2007 Site 14, the new home to Barclays Bank, was completed on schedule. I look forward to further successful sectional completions. The pace continues at an incredible rate through 2007 and our team is wholly committed to the delivery of our sites.”
In addition to the construction of several buildings including a 2200 space underground car park and access tunnels from Strand Street, Laing O’Rourke is also working on the Public Realm surrounding the scheme. The reinstatement of Chavasse Park commenced in January 2007. This space will become an elevated garden linking the new retail scheme of Liverpool One with the Albert Dock. Looking down on Chavasse Park will be the One Park West residential building where the structural frame is climbing skywards.
