Champagne launch for city's newest luxury flats
23 Feb 2007
LUXURY living colossus One Park West was officially launched last night at Tate Liverpool in a blaze of laser-lit glory.
Green lights were beamed onto Albert Dock buildings sketching out how the 17-storey city centre apartment development will look.
The first phase of apartments goes on sale at 10am this morning and investors will be asked to lay out a £1,000 deposit.
One Park West is part of Grosvenor’s £920m Liverpool One development.
Built from three cores, the building will house 326 apartments, with restaurants and offices on the lower levels.
Grosvenor’s project director, Rod Holmes, said: “We are seeing what has been in our imagination begin to take shape. We’re beginning to feel how our predecessors must have felt when the Georgian Quarter rose from the ground in the 1830s.
“One Park West will be a beacon and people will want to live there.
“We hope to encourage families and couples, not just professionals, to live in the city centre.
“I have been working on this for seven years and it is wonderful to finally be able to unveil part of it.”
One potential buyer at last night’s launch, Chris Georgio, is hoping to buy a number of apartments.
He said: “It’s such a great location. I’m interested in buying about eight apartments, including one to live in myself.”
The tower fronting the Strand was designed by world-famous Argentina-born architect Cesar Pelli, designer of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
One Park West will be made available in 10 phases, each involving around 30 apartments, the most expensive of which are expected to cost upwards of £400,000.
It will overlook the new Chavasse Park and will offer 360-degree views.
The original plans would have seen a taller tower on the site but, after consultations with heritage agencies, a modified scheme was agreed to avoid any conflict with the nearby World Heritage Site.
Work on One Park West is already under way, for completion early in 2009.
The apartments are on sale from today through the Castle Street office of estate agents King Sturge.
