Exclusive development gets a name
21 Feb 2007
THE jewel in the crown of Grosvenors luxury living development in Liverpool is to be officially named One Park West.
The 17-storey tower fronting the Strand has been designed by world-famous architect Cesar Pelli, designer of the stunning Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.
Grosvenor has selected the name of what will be the tallest building in the Paradise Street area because it will overlook the new five-acre Chavasse Park.
The original plans would have seen a taller tower on the site, but after consultations with heritage agencies, a modified scheme was agreed to avoid any conflict with the nearby World Heritage Site.
One Park West will consist of 326 one, two or three bedroom high specification apartments. There will be secure car parking and a 24-hour concierge services.
Built from three cores, the building will rise to 17 storeys, with restaurants and offices at the lower levels.
Cesar Pelli has designed a dramatic raking corner feature marking what will be a gateway to the city from the historic waterfront.
The building will command outstanding views of the River Mersey and will have as its neighbour on the other side of the park the new four-star Hilton Hotel.
The team of architects say they have designed an intricate, iconic, curved and glazed building, aimed to be sympathetic to its place among Liverpool’s famous waterfront buildings. The apartments will go on sale at 10am on Friday morning through the Liverpool office of sole agents King Sturge.
Tomorrow One Park West will be launched at a champagne reception at the Tate Liverpool, with executives from Grosvenor and King Sturge present, as well as architects from Cesar Pelli’s US-based practice which has worked in partnership with local firm Brock Carmichael.
VIPs and guests from the UK property world will also be present at the event.
The aim is to release apartments in phases, with an expected completion of the tower early in 2009. King Sturge are staying tight-lipped about prices for the development, but property experts in the city are predicting that a three-bedroomed apartment in the scheme in the first phase offer will go for around £400,000, a highly-competitive price given the location of One Park West.
Grosvenor plan a total of 630 new apartments as part of its so- called Liverpool One develop- ment, the £920m plan to transform the city centre in Europe’s biggest retail scheme.
Work on One Park West and the nearby Hilton Hotel is already under way.
